Interpretation

Christ sent his twelve disciples abroad, who by this time were able to teach others what they had received from the Lord. They must not be anxious to commend themselves to people's esteem by outward appearance.

Glossary

Galilee Place: Biblical region. Modern identification: Galilee.
John Person: (1. ) One who, with Annas and Caiaphas, sat in judgment on the apostles Peter and John ( Acts 4:6 ). He was of the kindred of the high priest; otherwise unknown. (2. ) The Hebrew name of Mark (q. v. ).
Tetrarch Person: Strictly the ruler over the fourth part of a province; but the word denotes a ruler of a province generally ( Matt. 14:1 ; Luke 3:1 , 19; 9:7; Acts 13:1 ).
