Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah.

Interpretation

This chapter continues the figurative address to Israel, in reference to Hosea's wife and children. Let us own and love as brethren, all whom the Lord seems to put among his children, and encourage them in that they have received mercy.

Ammi People: My people, a name given by Jehovah to the people of Israel ( Hos. 2:1 , 23. Comp. 1:9; Ezek. 16:8 ; Rom. 9:25 , 26; 1 Pet. 2:10 ).
Ruhamah Person: Having obtained mercy, a symbolical name given to the daughter of Hosea (2:1).
