For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.

Interpretation

Paul had differed with Barnabas, on the account of this Mark, yet he is not only reconciled, but recommends him to the churches; an example of a truly Christian and forgiving spirit. If men have been guilty of a fault, it must not always be remembered against them.

Glossary

Hierapolis Place: Sacred city, a city of Phrygia, where was a Christian church under the care of Epaphras ( Col. 4:12 , 13). This church was founded at the same time as that of Colosse. It now bears the name of Pambuk-Kalek, i. e. Modern identification: Hierapolis.
Laodicea Place: Biblical settlement. Modern identification: Laodicea on the Lycus.
