Ezra Person: Help. (1. ) A priest among those that returned to Jerusalem under Zerubabel ( Neh. 12:1 ). (2. ) The “scribe” who led the second body of exiles that returned from Babylon to Jerusalem B. C.
Jalon Tribe: Lodger, the last of the four sons of Ezra, of the tribe of Judah ( 1 Chr. 4:17 ).
Jether Person: Surplus; excellence. (1. ) Father-in-law of Moses ( Ex. 4:18 marg. ), called elsewhere Jethro (q. v. ). (2. ) The oldest of Gideon’s seventy sons ( Judg. 8:20 ).
Mered Tribe: Rebellion, one of the sons of Ezra, of the tribe of Judah ( 1 Chr. 4:17 ).
Miriam Person: Their rebellion. (1. ) The sister of Moses and Aaron ( Ex. 2:4-10 ; 1 Chr. 6:3 ). Her name is prominent in the history of the Exodus. She is called “the prophetess” ( Ex. 15:20 ).
